LOVE this show. When I first saw the commercials, I was a little unsure
because the main character, Steven, seemed loud and annoying. Boy, am I
glad I actually watched it! Now, I'm hooked. The artwork is clean,
bright and gorgeous!
Each character is really unique and I like how they're all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Just like Steven's dad likes to say, "If every pork chop was perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs" and so, every character has their own quirks (like Pearl with her OCD, Amethyst with her messiness, and Garnet with her obsession for the video game Meat Beat Mania ha). This show emphasizes on how not being perfect is what helps Steven continue to learn and explore life with such ambition and optimism. Even though Steven doesn't have a mother anymore, he has three great ladies who are supportive and helpful in his training to become a strong little guy and rose quartz gem.
This show is so refreshing and I REALLY hope Cartoon Network continues it because being an adult and compared to their other mind numbingly stupid shows, this one can be mature, funny, and I adore it! Plus, I like how it has three strong female characters. It's a nice change for the channel.
Also, the plot of the show is continuing to get more and more interesting. I LOVE how now the gems can combine to make others such as Pearl and Amethyst becoming Opal in "Giant Woman" (That episode was AMAZING). It adds so many possibilities to the show and it makes me really excited to see what else they can do.
All in all, this show is a breath of fresh air and it's definitely worth a try! (:
